In a double header that was postponed due weather, the softball team traveled to Connors State on Monday, May 1
stto take on the Cowgirls. The Lady Norse lost the lead late in an 11-10 defeat in game one. NEO lost despite out-hitting Connors State College ten to nine. NEO got their offense started in the second inning when
Kayla Paulo homered on a 2-1 count, scoring two runs. The big inning continued when
Sydney Price walked,
Hadley Calico singled up the middle,
Payton Compton singled, and
Madison Lee followed with a big, bases clearing double. Calico would come around to score again in the fourth. Price scored in the sixth. NEO would score two more in a final attempt to come back in the top of the seventh off of
Kendall Hannon's two run home run over the right field fence, but just fell short a run. Paulo was in the circle for NEO Lady Norse. The right hander surrendered six runs on five hits over five and a third innings, striking out six.
Halle Panter threw two-thirds of an inning in relief out of the bullpen. NEO Lady Norse collected ten hits on the day.
Hadley Calico,
Felicity Horn, and Lee each had multiple hits. Calico went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead in hits. Horn and Lee both had a two-hit game, and Compton, Hannon, and Paulo followed with a hit.
Despite the Lady Norse's effort to come back from being down four runs in the fifth inning they came up just short, as they fell 6-5 to Connors State College for game two. NEO scored three runs in the failed comeback on a single by
Felicity Horn and a single by
Grace Goins. Trying to make a comeback, the Lady Norse put up three big runs in the sixth inning. Horn and Goins both contributed to the big inning with RBIs. NEO tallied nine hits. Horn and
Destiny Tune all managed multiple hits for NEO Lady Norse. Horn led with three hits in four at bats.
Lillie Johnson started out in the circle, going two innings, allowing five hits, and five runs while striking out three. Righty
Emilee Evans threw four innings in relief, facing fifteen batters, and only giving up two hits and a run, with two strikeouts.
