Lady Norse Sweep Labette County at Home


NEO softball claimed a 7-5 victory on Tuesday for game one, despite a big push by Labette County Community College in the second inning. NEO Lady Norse evened things up at one in the bottom of the first inning when leadoff Payton Compton started out with a double and advanced to third on an overthrow. Felicity Horn then grounded out, scoring Compton. NEO scored two in the bottom of the third inning on Kendall Hannon's two-run home run, and then another two in the fourth off of Destiny Tune's home run. The Lady Norse tacked on a run in the sixth and seventh to secure the win. The Lady Norse combined for ten hits in the game. Compton led the offense with three hits in four at bats. Madison Lee followed with two hits and a walk. Kendall Hannon, Felicity Horn, Kayla Paulo, Sydney Price, and Destiny Tune each had a hit to contribute to the team win. The Lady Norse tallied three walks and zero strikeouts throughout the game. Lillie Johnson pitched the Lady Norse to victory. The righty went the distance and surrendered five runs on eight hits over seven innings, and striking out four.



 

Game two was electric with NEO trailing in the bottom of the sixth, when freshman Ryleigh Lynn hit a two RBI double to score the go ahead run to defeat Labette County Community College 12-11. Kendall Hannon led the offensive onslaught by driving in five runs. Hannon went 2-for-2 at the plate with back to back bombs in the first and second inning. She also led the team by getting on all four of her at bats, two of which were walks. NEO totaled 11 hits in the game. Hannon, Lee, Price, and Morrall all had two hits to lead the team. Compton, Lynn, and Tune each added a hit. The Lady Norse had 12 RBI in the game with Hannon leading with five, Lynn with three, Price with two, and Compton and Tune with one each. Kayla Paulo started the game for NEO Lady Norse. The righty surrendered ten runs on six hits over three and two-thirds innings, striking out four. Freshman righty Emilee Evans got the win for NEO. The righty surrendered only one run on three hits over two and a third innings, walking zero. Kalan Nye threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen to close the game and earn the save.
