This past Saturday NEO recorded a shutout versus Southern Shreveport on Red Robertson Field..
NEO went three and out on its first offensive possession, but the NEO Defense returned the favor deep in the Jag's territory. After a punt miscue, NEO's offense took the field on the opponent's 20 yard line. 5 Plays later QB Zyan Burditt found the end zone on an 8 yard run.
Shortly after the Jag's went for it on fourth down and were turned away. NEO offense once again took over at the opponent's 20 yard line. NEO was unable to convert the opportunity into points due to a fumble on second down. The Jag's again went three and out and the NEO offense took over on the 35. After a few plays Trevon Woolfolk burst into the end zone on an 18 yard run and the Norsemen never looked back.
Trevon Woolfolk handled the workload with 11 rushes for 48 yards and a touchdown. Najee Ellies brought some explosive plays with 4 carries for 54 Yards and 2 Touchdowns. While Malik Roberson and Zyan Burditt both chipped in touchdowns on the ground. Freshman Fred Watson also had 5 carries for 21 Yards.
The majority of NEO's attack came on the ground, but a high flying catch by Hayden Hack, on a Quintevin Cherry pass, brought some excitement through the air.
The NEO Defense has held the last 5 opponents to 37 total points for 7.4 points per game average. Southern Shreveport picked up the majority of their yards on Quarterback Scrambles by their young athletic quarterback Tydre Malone. The majority of those scrambles came after NEO amassed 4 sacks and proved the pocket was not a safe space.
NEO will play Gordon's Sports Academy this coming Saturday at Noon on Red Robertson Field.
