Softball Splits at Rose State

NEO fell behind early and couldn't come back in an 8-0 loss to Rose State on April 14th. The Lady Norse struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Rose State, giving up eight runs. A single by Payton Compton in the first inning was a positive for NEO. Kate Faber took the loss for game one. The righthander surrendered six runs on nine hits over four innings, striking out five and walking one. Felicity Horn, Faber, Paige Morrall, and Compton each managed one hit.

For game two NEO came out swinging to grab an early lead on its way to an 8-5 victory. NEO scored first on a groundout by Felicity Horn, scoring Makiah Torres. NEO earned the victory despite allowing Rose State to score three runs in the first inning.  Kayla Paulo was the game two winning pitcher. The righty went seven innings, allowing five runs on eight hits and striking out one. The Lady Norse took the lead for good with four runs in the second inning.  Kendall Hannon led off with a single up the middle, followed by a single from Kayla Paulo and a walk drawn from Hailey Haskell. Torres then hit a single to right field, scoring Paulo. Felicity Horn had a big three run double, scoring Torres, Haskell, and Donaldson. Paulo also had a laser shot over the center field fence in the seventh inning for two big insurance runs. NEO totaled 11 hits in the game.  Payton Compton, Kendall Hannon, Torres, Horn, and Paulo each racked up multiple hits. Paxton Donaldson also tacked on a single in the sixth inning
