NEO Lady Norse took Thursday's games in dramatic fashion, with a 6-4 walk-off victory over Connors State College. NEO was down 4-3 in the bottom of the seventh inning when Kate Faber homered on a 2-1 count, scoring three runs in walk-off fashion. NEO fired up the offense quickly in the first inning, when Faber singled, scoring Evy Aud. In the fourth inning Tara Hall walked and stole second, followed by Felicity Horn scoring Hall on a single to left field. The Lady Norse racked up nine hits in the game. Tara Hall and Faber each managed two hits. Horn, Makiah Torres, Paige Morrall, and Evy Aud all had a hit to help contribute to the win. Horn and Torres also tacked on a walk. Faber led the way in the RBI category with four. There were four stolen bases during the game with Torres, Morrall, Hall, and Donaldson all swiping a bag. Faber was the winning pitcher. She went five innings, allowing four runs on six hits and striking out two. Evy Aud threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. Aud recorded the last six outs to earn the save for the Lady Norse.
Game two was a little bit of deja-vu as NEO defeated Connors State 14-13 on Thursday thanks to a walk-off single by Sarah Campbell. The game was tied at 13 with NEO batting in the bottom of the seventh when Sarah Campbell singled on a 1-2 count, scoring Felicity Horn to walk it off. The Lady Norse tallied eight runs in the fifth inning. The offensive onslaught came from singles by Paxton Donaldson and Kate Faber, and Abby Ishmael, and doubles by Felicity Horn and Evy Aud. The seventh inning was also exciting as leadoff Faber walked and two batters later Kayla Paulo hit a two run home run to tie the game. Felicity Horn followed it up with a single and Sarah Campbell then scored Felicity Horn to secure the win. NEO totaled 13 hits during game two. Faber and Aud led with three hits, Horn and Hall followed with two, and Campbell, Donaldson, and Paulo tacked on one a piece. The Lady Norse were swiping bags left and right with eight total stolen bases: Ishmael (3), Donaldson (2), Torres (1), Morrall (1), and Hall (1). Paulo started game two. The pitcher allowed five hits and six runs over two and two-thirds innings, striking out one. Aud pitched earned the win. The righty lasted three and a third innings, allowing five hits and six runs. Faber threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Faber recorded the last three outs to earn the save.
