First Dramatics, Then Sit Back and Relax

The Lady Norse took Saturday's game one in dramatic fashion, with a 10-9 walk-off victory over Western. The game was tied at nine with NEO batting in the bottom of the ninth when Paxton Donaldson tripled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring Paige Morrall for the walk-off win. NEO had a big fifth inning, scoring six runs. During the inning Donaldson, Hall, Torres, Faber, Haskell, and Horn scored. The inning had 3 singles, 1 double, and a two-run home run by Horn. Makiah Torres also had a home run in the 3rd inning. There were 11 total hits in the game. Hailey Haskell, Torres, and Donaldson all had multiple hits, and Gregory, Hall, Horn, Faber, and Morrall each had a hit. Kate Faber earned the win for NEO. The pitcher allowed seven hits and nine runs over five innings, while striking out five. Abby Ishmael threw four innings in relief out of the bullpen. Ishmael recorded the last 12 outs to earn the save. Ishmael only allowed one hit in the four innings. 

 

Game two was a little less tight as NEO took the lead in the second inning and never looked back, defeating Western 7-0 as Evy Aud and Kayla Paulo combined to throw a shutout. Aud was credited with the victory. She lasted five innings, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out two and walking one. Paulo threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen, only giving up one hit and striking out two. Lady Norse fired up the offense in the second inning. Felicity Horn doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring Kate Faber. The offense secured the victory thanks to six runs in the fourth inning. Sarah Campbell, Paige Morrall, and Tara Hall powered the big inning with RBIs. Kate Faber led at the plate with two hits in three at bats. NEO sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Morrall had the most chances in the field with five.
