The loss was the first of the season for the Norsemen, who were on the road for the first time. NEO scored the final two touchdowns of the game, but it was too little, too late. Darran Williams had a 32-yard TD run with 1:56 left in the third quarter. The extra point by Tommy Heatherly cut the deficit to 31-17, then a 1-yard run by Carl Garman and Heatherly's kick made it a seven-point game with 8:17 remaining. Kilgore was able to repel the Norsemen several times down the stretch, including a drive to deep into Ranger territory on their final possession. A fourth down pass by Clayton Sims in the end zone was incomplete. NEO's first-half points came on a 2-yard run by Garman and a 21-yard field goal by Heatherly. Dakota Michaels threw for three touchdowns, a 19-yard strike to De'Montre Tuggle, a 5-yarder to Rod Ford and a 77-yard pass and catch by Ford. Next: NEO hosts Navarro Saturday, Sept. 29.
