Norsemen Win Nine of Ten Individual Matches
 
The NEO wrestlers closed out the regular dual meet season with a convincing 49-4 victory over Labette Community College, Parsons, Kansas on our home mats in the Student Activity Center on Wednesday evening (1/20/2016).  The Norsemen finish the dual meet season 12-2 for the year, including undefeated at home.

The meet began at 149 lbs. where freshman Dustin Hayden, Johnstown, Colorado, won a 7-3 decision. This was followed with a forfeit win for sophomore Dawaylon Barnes, Muskogee, OK at 157 lbs.. Then the NEO wrestlers rolled with two first period pins by freshman Saul Ortiz, Wichita Heights, Kansas at 165 lbs. and sophomore Jacobe Smith, Muskogee, OK at 174 lbs.

The Labette Cardinals then forfeited the next two weights to 184 lb. freshman Joe Gaither, Kingfisher, OK and freshman Jacob Spencer, Union Grove, Alabama at 197 lbs. before NEO rolled with two more first period pins by 285 lb. sophomore Blake Andrews, Grapevine, Texas and 125 lb. freshman Cody Randall, Sand Springs, OK.

Labette would win their only match of the evening at 133 lb. where redshirt sophomore Dillon McCaleb, Coweta, OK lost a 19-7 major decision before freshman Asa (Alex) Nelson, Guthrie, OK closed out the match with an 11-2 victory for NEO at 141 lbs.

Andrews and Smith finished undefeated in dual meets at 14-0 and 10-0 respectively, while Ortiz was 2-0. Overall records for the year include Andrews 35-5; Smith 30-2 (17 pins); Barnes 27-7; Gaither 21-8; and Ortiz 14-10.

NEO will finish the regular season this weekend in Conway, Arkansas at the Natural State Open on Saturday 1-23-2016.
