INDEPENDENCE, Mo. — Despite allowing their first goal of the young season, the No. 18 nationally ranked Northeastern A&M College Norse posted a 4-1 victory Tuesday over Metropolitan Community College-Blue River on the Trail Blazer's pitch.
While winning their fourth match in a row, coach Lisa Bell's Norse earned an appearance in the first weekly Women's Division 1 National Junior College Athletic Association soccer poll.
The loss dropped the Trail Blazers to 2-2 on the season.
NEO returns to Red Robertson Field for a 6 p.m. match Sunday against Neosho County Community College, of Chanute, Kansas. The Panthers are 1-3 on the season.
After battling to a scoreless first half, the Trail Blazers grabbed a 1-0 lead at the 60-minute mark in the match. Sophomore forward Kenzie McGlynn found the back of the net to give the Trail Blazers the lead.
After receiving a red card 10 minutes later, the Trail Blazers surrendered four consecutive goals to the Norse.
Two goals by sophomore forward Paige Logsdon, of Muskogee, ignited the NEO outburst.
