BELLEVILLE, Ill. — Solid defensive play that kept the ball from breaking the plain of the goal allowed the Northeastern A&M College Golden Norsemen to post a 3-0 shutout Saturday on the home pitch of the Southwestern Illinois College Blue Storm.
With the victory, coach
John Parrigon's Golden Norse (6-2) play a 7 p.m. Bi-State Athletic Conference Region 2 match Wednesday on Red Robertson Field against the Mavericks of Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa. The Mavericks begin conference action with a 3-4-1 overall mark.
The Golden Norsemen built a 1-0 lead in the first half on an unassisted goal by
Jordan James at the 43-minute mark.
With 65 minutes showing on the scoreboard in the second half,
Zac Chism received a pass from
Miguel Morales to give NEO a 2-0 cushion.
Morales earned his second assist of the match at the 84-minute mark with a pass to William Hueghs for the final goal.
NEO finished with 12 shots-on-goal out of 28 total shots. Goalkeepers
