th rated Northeastern A&M continues a seven-game home stand at 1 p.m. Saturday with a four-game series against Arkansas Baptist College.
While winning their seventh game out of the last 10, coach
Roger Ward's Golden Norsemen are 18-7 on the season. The loss dropped the Crowder Roughriders to 18-13 on the year.
NEO is currently 1-3 in the Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference heading into the Saturday-Sunday match-up with Arkansas Baptist from Little Rock. The Buffaloes are 0-4 in the conference and 6-12 overall.
First pitch for both double-headers on Saturday and Sunday will be thrown at 1 p.m. on Homa Thomas Field.
Crowder roughed up NEO starter
Manuel Pizarro for four runs in the top of the fourth inning to snap a scoreless tie. A two-run double by Garrett Mays and a two-run single by Drew Pearson ignited the rally.
After the Roughriders added a solo run in the top of the fifth inning, the Golden Norse added a run in the bottom of the inning to create a 5-1 deficit.
NEO continued their offensive onslaught with two runs in the bottom of the sixth, four in the seventh and one in the eighth to earn the victory.
The first nine batters for the Norsemen produced all 16 hits that included doubles by
Keaton Presley,
Houston Glad and
Tristen Gagan. Catcher
Milton Miranda hit his third home run of the season.
Pizarro allowed five runs on seven hits in four innings before giving way to Parker McDonal. Over a three-inning span, McDonal allowed one run on two hits before exiting to start the eighth inning.
Luke Preaus (1-0) surrendered one run on two hits in one inning of work before Glad earned his second save of the season with a scoreless ninth.
Justin Sunde and Garrett Mayes combined for three hits each to pace the 12-hit Roughrider offense.
