11/9/2014 9:17:00 PM

The Norsemen Wrestling Program opened the 2014-15 dual meet season with a 45-3 victory over Colby Community College, ranked #5 pre-season and a defeat at the hands of pre-season #1 North Idaho College 25-13.  NEO was ranked #8 in the pre-season rankings.

Winning two matches on the day were 141 lbs. Timothy O'Connor (Guthrie, OK), 149 lbs. Lane Lassiter (Holton, KS), and 157 lbs. Dewaylan Barnes (Muskogee, OK). O'Connor is 7-0 on the season, while Barnes is overall 6-0. All other Norse wrestlers won at least one match during the afternoon of competition in the Student Activity Center.

Coach Renfro stated, "We have to go back and look at film and see where we made mistakes.  They were small mistakes, but they cost us some matches. Overall I am not too disappointed. We didn't wrestle to where we want to be in a couple of months for the national tournament, but we will get there. We learn from our experiences."

The team travels to Pratt, Kansas on Thursday night for a dual meet at 7 PM with Pratt Community College, before returning home next Sunday afternoon to face Oklahoma State.
