Norsemen Tie Up Aggies

Box Score TISHOMINGO — Balanced scoring carried the Northeastern A&M Golden Norsemen to a crucial 60-46 Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference victory Thursday night over the Murray State College Aggies in the Beames Field House.


While winning their third consecutive game, coach Dustin Grover's Golden Norse are 5-5 in the conference and 13-8 on the season. The Golden Norsemen return to Miami on Monday for an 8 p.m. conference showdown with the Carl Albert State College Vikings in the NEO Fieldhouse.
"This is a game where we should be able to continue our momentum that we have going," Grover. "We'll see how far we can take it because our toughest games lie ahead."
With the loss the Murray Aggies are 3-7 in the OCAC and 3-20 on the year.
Murray's only lead of the game at 5-4 occurred following a 3-point field goal by Mario Fleurima at the 15-minute mark of the first half.
Twice the Golden Norse built eight-point leads at 19-11 on a 3-pointer by Jake Roach with 8:14 showing on the clock and 26-18 following a Roach free throw at the 2:19 juncture.
Another free throw by Roach created a 27-18 NEO margin heading to the locker room at halftime.
During the second half the Golden Norse used a 3-pointer and a regular field goal both by Ja'mill Powell to construct a 37-20 cushion with 17:20 left in the game. Two jump shots by Derrick Frye and a tip-in by Luther Thomas increased the NEO advantage to 45-25 with 11:19 showing on the clock.
Powell was the only Norseman to reach double figures with 11 points, Lionel Green Jr. nine, Erikk Wright Jr. eight, Roach eight, Frye eight, Igor Ibaka seven, Christian Leach six, Thomas two and Uter Moukimou one.
Fleurima paced the Aggies with 20 total points, Clement Bernardo 15, Wyatt Smith five, EJ Golightly four and Milos Milidragovic two.
