Wrestling To Host Double-Dual On Jan 6th

1/2/2014 5:45:00 PM

Area wrestling fans are invited to the Northeastern A&M Multi-Purpose building on Monday as the No. 6 ranked Golden Norsemen host a double-dual match with nationally ranked Pratt, Kan., and Ellsworth Iowa.

Admission is free for everyone and members of more than 50 high school wrestling teams from around the four-state area have been invited to attend the matches, according to NEO head coach Joe Renfro.
"I know the NCAA National Championship Football game is that evening," Renfro said. "But, we will do our best to "pin out" and get everyone out of here at a reasonable time to enjoy the game."
Weight-ins start at 3 p.m. followed by the Golden Norsemen against the No. 18th ranked Pratt Community College Beavers starting at 4 p.m.
Coach Ken Kepley's Pratt Beavers return four sophomores from a team that hosted the West Central District Championship last year.
Pratt will battle Elsworth beginning at 5 p.m.
"Our dual at 7 p.m. against the Ellsworth Panthers on one mat should be quite competitive and exciting to watch," Renfro said. "We've designed this event so an NEO wrestler should be competing in every round."
Ellsworth enters the dual ranked No. 8 by the National Junior College Athletic Association Coach Cole Spree's Panthers feature eight returning sophomores.
