NEOSHO, Mo. – After sweeping a double-header from Panola College on Saturday, Northeastern A&M's 34th ranked Golden Norsemen conclude a four-game road trip Wednesday with a 2 p.m. nine-inning game with Crowder College on Roughrider Field.
Coach
Roger Ward's Norsemen return from Carthage, Texas with a 2-1 season record. After dropping a 7-3 decision to the Ponies last Friday, the Golden Norse rolled to a 10-4 and 13-4 twinbill sweep before heading north.
Ranked 18th in the preseason after finishing 44-17 last season, the game will be the season opener for eighth-year head coach Todd Lallemand's Roughriders.
With the score tied 4-4 through seven innings of the first game with Panola, the Golden Norse erupted for six runs to gain a 10-4 victory. Four of the eight NEO hits were doubles as veteran
Kevin Meyers delivered two doubles and two RBI.
Also collecting two hits each for the Norsemen were
Jackson Morris,
Hector Candelaria and
Angel Ortiz along with a RBI single by Scott Crabtree.
Against the Ponies in the nightcap,
Ramon Laureano delivered a single, double and home run with five RBI as the Golden Norsemen scored in six of seven innings en route to a 13-4 rout. Morris contributed three singles and two runs batted in while
Justin Webb added two singles for the Norse.
