Box Score FAYETTE, Mo. — Extending their winning streak to three games, Northeastern A&M's Golden Norsemen cruised to a 97-74 victory Wednesday night the junior varsity Eagles of Central Missouri State University in Puckett Fieldhouse.
Coach
Dustin Grover's Golden Norsemen continue a five-game road trip Friday by playing two games in the Hutchinson, Kan. Sports Arena. The Golden Norse are 4-1 on the year and face the junior varsity of Bethel College at 5:30 p.m. on Friday before squaring off against the host No. 4 ranked Hutchinson Community College Blue Dragons on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
Located in North Newton, Kan., the Bethel College junior varsity Threshers are 2-1 on the season. The Threshers lost to Johnson County (Kan.) Community College 76-62 last weekend in the Brown Mackie Classic at Salina, Kan.
Hutchinson's Blue Dragons are a perfect 4-0 on the season following an 87-81 victory in overtime against Johnson County in Overland Park, Kan.
"We jumped out to an early lead over Central Missouri and then we went into relax mode," Grover said. "We couldn't ever get back into the attack mode and they hung around the entire game.
"Our problem was that we never could get focused because we understood the quality of the competition we were facing," Grover said. "We'll have to play a lot more focused this weekend."
Three sophomores scored in double figures for NEO led by
Christian Leach with 23,
Derrick Frye 21 and
Ja'mill Powell 19 points.
Freshman guard Andrew Wright (6-1 from Blue Springs, Mo.) led the Eagles with 23 total points.
